6 products to live by if you’re growing you hair out.

My boyfriend is growing his hair. Yes, you read that write. He’s joining the fad and wanting long luscious locks like Dougie from Mcfly a year or two ago. I get it, I am not exactly opposed to a guy with a good head of hair. But the main problem with his new obsession is that he’s now not only stealing my face masks and skin serums, but my hair products – and not all of them are cheap as I’m sure you understand.

Anyway, his constant talk about hair growth and split ends got me to reminiscing to when I was so desperately growing my hair a year or two ago and managed to go from this:

(yes that’s me the one with all the dead, bleached hair on the end). To this:

in a pretty stressful year and a half. I know that might not seem that great to you awful people that gain six inches in like six months (I hate you all), but when you’re hair grows at a minimum rate and you’re trying to rebuild it’s strength and thickness, that’s a pretty good effort.

If you too struggle to grow you hair, whether it’s because of your genes or you’re just trying to get back that awkward ‘it just won’t grow anymore’ phase, then here are some products guaranteed to help you.

  1. Redken, Anti-snap serum, £12.50 amazon.co.uk

This is a bargain now, seeing as when I bought it it was about £20 everywhere I looked. Having said that however, that was a year ago and I still have the same bottle, so it definitely goes a long way which is something I love about this product.

Simply apply a pea size amount (a phrase my boyfriend doesn’t understand by the way) onto your wet ends and avoid all those nasty split ends that ruin hair growth more than anything else.

2. Lee Stafford Hair Growth Range, £7.49-£11.99 Boots.Lee-Stafford-Hair-Growth-Range

All of these products work, and they work even better together. My housemate bought me the shampoo, conditioner and leave in serum for a birthday present a few years ago and now I swear by it. Any time people ask me about how to grow their hair quickly, I point them in the direction of Lee Stafford.

I know there are many products out there that claim to make your hair grow faster and never do, but honestly this range does exactly what it says on the label. I saw results in just four weeks so do not hesitate to try these products out if you’re looking for quick, healthy growth.

3. Mane and Tail Shampoo and Conditioner, £7.50 amazon.co.uk

Okay so hear me out. Yes, this is for horses. Yes, that’s slightly peculiar. But think about horses for a second. Their hair is always shiny, long and strong. I don’t know about you, but that’s what I strive for, so I was willing to give it a go. And it worked.

It definitely doesn’t smell like the Lee Stafford range – I mean, it’s not bad, but it’s not great – but it does do what it’s supposed to do and that’s whats important here. Sacrifices need to be made if you want long locks quickly!

4. Not your mother’s shampoo and conditioner, £15 amazon.co.uk

I can never find this product in the UK apart from on amazon or strangely enough at Urban Outfitters. I came across it when my hair was super weak and short while staying in the states for a few months, and was determined to bring some home with me.

It smells like an absolute dream and lasts forever, which is everything you want from a shampoo and conditioner combination that costs you £30. The best thing about this product is really the strength it provides to your hair, making it harder to get split ends and easier to grow out a bad hair cut.

5. Solgar Skin, Nails and Hair Formula, £11.99 Holland and Barrett

I don’t particularly believe in taking supplements for everything, but it’s hard to ignore the benefits of taking these little pills while eating a well-balanced (and hair growth encouraging diet), just for a little while.

Everybody knows the important of vitamin B and D to help hair growth, but these supplements also supply a healthy dose of vitamin C and copper which other hair and nail vitamins don’t offer. I only took them for a few months, but they definitely helped make my hair feel stronger by restoring the collagen within it.

6. OGX Thick and Full Biotin & Collagen Healing Oil, £13.99 amazon.co.uk

Biotin and collagen are so important for hair growth, so it’s pretty obvious that this heating oil will help you in your hair growth mission. My only advice, wash your hair twice after use if you rub it into your scalp, it’s super hard to get out.

Happy hair growth guys and girls.
