So, I dug out the tourist in me and saw some kangaroos…

Okay, firstly let me clarify that I am actually not a huge fan of keeping wild animals in cages. So I do feel a little bit guilty that I gave into the tourist in me and went to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary the other week with my boyfriend. But you know what, I enjoyed it – sorry – and I just couldn’t give up the chance to see these beautiful animals while I had the chance. And yes, I did try to see them in their natural environment during a 12 hour drive to Mackay over the new year, but I didn’t so I basically had no choice!

What I loved about this place the most was definitely the fact we could walk right into the Kangaroo fields and get up close and personal with the animals. Admittedly, I was a little bit scared, in case one would get up and boxer punch me the way they probably would have in the wild, but that’s not something you can experience in other animal sanctuaries (nice way to say zoo really), unless you pay a fortune, so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

Anyway, here are some photos from the day just in case you’ve never got to experience a Kangaroo first hand…
